A young doctor who had just received a diploma, arrives in Drineffy – a tiny provincial town – to begin to practice medicine for the first time. Like any young idealist, Andrew Manson is full of hopes and aspirations, ready to change the world.

But the practice appeared not like as he had imagined. He is forced to live in little room to live from hand to mouth, to suffer the despotism of his wife’s, obsessed with money.

In the mining town has no hospital, so he can not engage in clinical studies. Manson first comes face to face with a system in which so many flaws and it becomes his chief enemy.
